I don't think animation cancels are by necessity immersion breaking, especially if the cancellation itself is also properly animated. If you practiced hema or any sort of martial arts/combat sports with weapons, you know that you can, and often do change your mind in the middle of an exchange, and you know how effective a feint is. In my opinion the overexaggerated movesets (this game is not the worst perpetrator in this) and the fact that plate armor can be cut through is by far more immersion breaking than feints. If you want to know what i consider a pretty immersive game regarding the topic, check out Exanima. Not a perfect game by any stretch, but it does a lot of things so well. As far as i can tell Kingdom Come also did a good job with it's combat, but i haven't played that one. That being said, the other things you've brought up are really good, this game looks pretty good. :)

Yikes.. I enjoyed your guides and humor but this is disappointing. I'm unsubscribing. You're not winning. Inclusion and representation is never a bad thing. It expands the appeal to a larger audience who were historically underrepresented in the industry. It's a net loss for the community. How one can stand against civil rights is baffling.

What I'm getting from all this is that discrimination is fine, so long as it is positive. Also, for fans and developers, games are art. For publishers, games are product.

I think it's a rebrand, because too many normies got wind of the whole shitshow. They'll be back in full force with more nonsense, more uninspired, boring, overpriced trash made for gaming journalists, instead of the customer. Customer who they will still insist on calling toxic, racist, sexist, etc etc. I pirate most games now, just like I did 20+ years ago. The difference is 20+ years ago I was a kid and could not afford more than 2-3 games A YEAR. Now I have over 1,200 games in my Steam library. My physical game collection has reached 1,000. I ain't buying any more stuff. They want to disrespect me from behind without lube? So be it.

nah Microsoft has also laid off many profitable studios, so i see this as Microsoft cutting expenses in a market that is not demanding this kind of games right now. The moment there's a game that can be potentially sold to tranies, woke women and all those politically driven demographics, they just going to hire DEI staff again and squeeze the shit out of whatever crap they sell. Microsoft is here to make money, they don't have any loyalty, shame, nor ethics towards the industry and the consumers. If they dont need DEI for the next year and a half, they will dispose of them until the market shifts again to the starting point. Same thing a lot of publishers did with Obsidian every time market demanded good quality RPG games

There is ONE way and ONE WAY ONLY to make these companies feel the pain. Let your wallet speak. Don´t buy the game. Let them bleed dollars and the nightmare will be over soon. The DEI is similar to the AI hype. Its about attracting investment, looking like your at the forefront of modern culture and trends, and making Company look more capable/less evil. In truth both are really gisnt money sinks that offer little of their proposed value. Large language models still have practicals uses but no where near the extent that is claimed, DEI though I think has almost none.

Hadn't heard of DEI so cant talk much on that but what I will say is in response to 'just hire people based on their skill' Obviously I cant see anyone who would outright disagree with that statement but I dont think its that simple when it comes down to it. Without a system like this DEI in place these companies will continue to do what they have always done which will lead to the same unbalanced outcome. Of course though, DEI in this case is clearly not the answer as not only would it cause other issues, but it was obviously just a PR stunt instead of actually trying to make meaningful change.

DEI is too ingrained. It's rife in the advertising agencies. You'd think America is 85% black with the "representation" in ads shown everywhere for any product.

I hope so. As a game designer I don't want to make something with my vision and then have some activist come in change it completely and when it fails it gets pinned on me and my studio shuts down. This is exactly what happened with rocksteady, with the new flintlock game and other examples.

I think your a little hard on Fallout 3 and Skyrim for me I found them to be fantastic. I do agree Oblivion and Fallout 4 are kind of subpar (also didn't finish fallout 4) One thing I would add is why did they pic the Breton area its easily the most generic choice. One the reason Morriwind is so beloved is it incredibly unique setting. For me literally any other land they haven't already done would have been more interesting. For Veilgaurd I don't see much hope for it, but one, If they really go into the choose your own adventure like for example your race and faction or class start you of in a completely different area and everyone will have different playthrough beginning middle and end. For me that give it a useful niche in exchange for the decreasing Rpg and tactical aspects of the game.
